A Maidencreek Township woman died of injuries suffered over the weekend when an SUV in which she was a passenger crashed into house in Reading’s Hampden Heights neighborhood, Berks County Coroner Matthew J. Stitzel announced Thursday.

Elisa L. Plancarte, 38, was pronounced dead in Reading Hospital by a staff physician at 9:46 a.m. Wednesday, Stitzel said in a release.

An autopsy was done Thursday morning in Reading Hospital by Dr. Neil Hoffman, a forensic pathologist, but the findings were unavailable.

The one-vehicle crash happened Sunday shortly after 2 a.m. at Hampden Boulevard and Bern Street. The driver, Baltazar Martinez-Almanza, 37, of Temple, was also seriously injured, according to Reading police.

Police provided this account in the crash report:

Martinez-Almanza was northbound in the 1700 block of Hampden Boulevard at a high speed.

After crossing the intersection with Bern, he lost control and the SUV went into the oncoming lane and left Hampden Boulevard, striking the house on the west side of the block. No one was in the house, which has been converted into an insurance business.

Plancarte, who was the front-seat passenger, was thrown through the passenger side window and pinned under the SUV. She was freed by fire and rescue personnel.

She and Martinez-Almanza were taken to the hospital by ambulance. Police found no indications that either had been wearing a seat belt.

Information on the medical condition of Martinez-Almanza was unavailable.

A Maidencreek Township woman died of injuries suffered over the weekend when an SUV in which she was…

[11
349,182,139,28,736,128,130,129,706
post-180633","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-reading","tag-berks-county","tag-local-news","tag-news","tag-pennsylvania","tag-reading","tag-reading-city","tag-reading-city-headlines","tag-reading-city-news","tag-top-stories-reg
["GET
