Jim Coen, owner of Yinzers in the Burgh, said he didn\u2019t see the boost in business he expected during the NFL draft but is optimistic about the marathon\u2019s impact. “Help the city, because a lot of the businesses could use it,” Coen said. “One of the reasons that they have the marathon go through all of the different neighborhoods is so they can showcase our neighborhoods, and show how much we have in this city and how beautiful our city is,” he said.Pittsburgh Marathon weekend >> A complete guide to events, runners, road closuresOther businesses are also getting ready for thousands of runners to hit the streets of Pittsburgh for the marathon and its related events.Ali Steele, who traveled from Oklahoma with a group of women to run in the half-marathon, said they stumbled across the Strip and plan to shop before race day. “We wanted to catch some Pirates games, run with my friends and just do the best we can,” Steele said. “As we were driving in, saw all these cute little shops and we were so excited,” said Angie Kelley, another member of the group.”We actually didn’t even know this existed. We just drove over here looking for brunch, and now we are going to walk around and check it out,” Steele said. “Probably for sure buy something,” she added. Cynthia Lowery, also from Oklahoma, said she was “pleasantly surprised to find all the great shopping” and is glad they arrived a day early to explore the area. Lowery, who recently completed her 40th marathon, is running the half-marathon in Pittsburgh for fun. “Make sure you enjoy the course, enjoy the run, and enjoy the people of the city that you’re in,” Lowery said, offering advice to first-time runners.Download the WTAE app to stay connected with breaking news.
