Families across Erie are getting a chance to stock up on children\u2019s essentials at lower prices this weekend as Sunflower Sprouts hosts its latest community consignment event, offering discounted clothing, toys, books and baby gear.<\/p>\n
Owner Jen Stickle said the goal is to ease the financial strain that comes with raising young children, especially as families juggle fast\u2011changing needs. \u201cWe really want families to be able to say yes more often,\u201d Stickle said. \u201cWhen items are more affordable, it takes some of that pressure off parents.\u201d<\/p>\n
Shoppers are using the sale to prepare for the busy months ahead, picking up extra outfits for the car, pajamas for overnight visits and small games to keep kids occupied during travel. \u201cParents are thinking ahead,\u201d Stickle said. \u201cThey want to be prepared for anything, whether it\u2019s a quick trip or a weekend away.\u201d<\/p>\n
Books remain one of the most sought\u2011after items, particularly as families plan for summer reading. Stickle said chapter books tend to disappear early in the event. \u201cFamilies are always looking for ways to keep kids engaged without spending a lot,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
The sale draws a wide mix of shoppers, but Stickle said grandparents are among the most frequent visitors. Many come looking for items to keep on hand for visits. \u201cGrandparents are some of our best customers,\u201d she said. \u201cThey love having things ready for when the kids come to visit.\u201d<\/p>\n
Working parents also rely on the event as a convenient one\u2011stop shop. \u201cThey\u2019re busy and want to get everything done in one place,\u201d Stickle said. \u201cThis gives them that opportunity while still saving money.\u201d<\/p>\n
