A semiconductor company in Hanover Township, Lehigh County, is laying off 55 workers.<\/p>\n
A Worker Adjustment and Retaining Notification was issued Friday morning for Advantest Inc. at 1660 E. Race St., near Lehigh Valley International Airport. According to the notice, the effective date is June 30.<\/p>\n
Federal law requires employers to provide notice 60 days in advance of a closing or mass layoff.<\/p>\n
The location houses R&D Altanova, a subsidiary of Advantest. The company specializes in semiconductor test solutions, particularly high-performance test interfaces along with research and development.<\/p>\n
It is unclear how many workers will remain. An Advantest spokesperson was not immediately available for comment.<\/p>\n
