It\u2019s time to get outside and it looks like May 9 is going to be a big day to enjoy the weather.<\/p>\n

The 24th Annual Roxborough Spring Fest & Rockin\u2019 the Ridge Car Show is returning to Ridge Avenue in Roxborough from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., featuring a high-energy, family-friendly, all-day, all-ages celebration that blends classic cars, live music, student creativity, local business showcases and food vendors.<\/p>\n

Attendees can sip on craft beverages from Pennsylvania\u2019s own New Ridge Brewing Co. and Top Dog Cocktails.<\/p>\n

As part of the citywide Philadelphia 250 celebration, this year\u2019s event will also feature Roxborough as a marquee destination for a special Liberty Bell installation in Pocket Park, adding a historic touch to one of the neighborhood\u2019s most anticipated annual traditions.<\/p>\n

\u201cPhiladelphia\u2019s semiquincentennial celebrations belong to every neighborhood,\u201d said Kathryn Ott Lovell, president and CEO of the Philadelphia Visitor Center Corp. and Philadelphia250. \u201cMayor Parker\u2019s Ring It On! initiative carries that spirit into communities across the city, ensuring every Philadelphian feels part of this historic moment. Philadelphia250 is ensuring that these neighborhood celebrations occur for the rest of the year, starting now with events like Spring Fest through to December. July Fourth is important, but we\u2019re going well beyond that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Roxborough Spring Fest is one of 20 neighborhood festivals to receive financial support and coordination through the RingItOn! Initiative.<\/p>\n

The neighborhood festivals supported by RingItOn! make up a citywide calendar of new and existing festivals, markets, and cultural events from April through December. Through investment in these events, the city and Philadelphia250 aim to drive foot traffic to Philadelphia\u2019s neighborhood corridors and support local businesses in these communities throughout the anniversary year.<\/p>\n

As part of Spring Fest, Rockin\u2019 the Ridge is a showcase of classic, custom and specialty vehicles lining Ridge Avenue.<\/p>\n

Then head over to Northern Liberties to check out the first Northern Liberties Spring Festival.<\/p>\n

The all-ages, all-day celebration runs from 11 a.m.-5 p.m., at Third and Poplar, as well as inside and around Liberty Lands.<\/p>\n

\u201cNorthern Liberties has always been a neighborhood that defies easy description,\u201d said Northern Liberties Business Improvement District Executive Director Sydney Rexroad. \u201cIt\u2019s creative, it\u2019s historic, it\u2019s growing and it\u2019s deeply local. Spring Festival is our way of throwing open the doors and celebrating everything that makes us unique and different. It is a true block party for the whole community: families, foodies, music lovers, dog owners, art collectors, you name it. If you haven\u2019t spent a Saturday in Northern Liberties lately, May 9th is the perfect excuse.\u201d<\/p>\n

The line-up will feature two stages, bands, music and dance performances, food trucks, cold cocktails, made-in-Northern Liberties beers, hot dog eating contest, kids\u2019 yoga, neighborhood small businesses, artists and makers, pet portraits, DIY flower bouquets, make-and-take craft station, and many other surprises.<\/p>\n
