A former Mount Borough councilman accused of raping a woman has been acquitted of nearly all of the 30 counts he was facing.<\/p>\n
Roger L. Stief Jr., 50, was found not guilty on multiple counts of rape, sexual assault, indecent assault and related offenses following a jury trail this week in Berks County Court. He was found guilty on two counts of simple assault.<\/p>\n
For those convictions, Stief was sentenced to 6 to 23 months in the county jail with credit for 221 days served, followed by two years of probation.<\/p>\n
Stief had been accused a raping a woman at his home in the 100 block of North 25th Street several times starting in October 2024.<\/p>\n
Stief was elected as a borough council member in November 2021.
