PHILADELPHIA \u2014 Patrons who have the app for Rita’s Italian Ice & Frozen Custard will get a free sweet treat on Saturday to celebrate National Italian Ice Day.<\/p>\n
The Bensalem-based Rita\u2019s \u2014 which opened there in 1984 \u2014 is planning the free promotion and another tied in to Cinco de Mayo on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
On Sunday, participating Rita\u2019s shops nationwide will offer guests a free small Italian Ice with the purchase of any treat through a single-use reward in the Rita\u2019s app. The company said the offer expires by the end of the day.<\/p>\n
The promotion applies to app users and is limited to one \u201cBuy One Treat, Get One Free Small Ice\u201d reward per account. (Kids size treats are excluded.)<\/p>\n
Rita\u2019s said the timing also highlights some of its classic Italian Ice flavors, including Cherry, Mango and Cotton Candy, which the company said are made fresh daily.<\/p>\n
Two days later, on Tuesday, Rita\u2019s plans to launch its limited-time \u201cMake It Swicey\u201d lineup featuring Taj\u00edn as a topping. <\/p>\n
The company said guests will be able to customize their favorite Rita\u2019s treats with the seasoning for what it described as a sweet, spicy and icy combination.<\/p>\n
The new menu includes three items named in the announcement: <\/p>\n
Mango Italian Ice topped with Taj\u00edn, a Watermelon Ice Blender blended with Taj\u00edn, and a Watermelon Gelati layered with Vanilla Custard and finished with Taj\u00edn. Rita\u2019s said the lineup adds a sweet-and-spicy twist to some of its classic treats for a limited time.<\/p>\n
New Rita’s app members can get one free small Ice, Custard or Gelati for signing up. Rita\u2019s said app users can earn rewards on purchases and receive birthday rewards and exclusive offers.<\/p>\n
Rita\u2019s said its signature Italian Ice is made fresh daily on-site and offered in a rotating selection of more than 80 flavors. Other menu items listed in the announcement include Frozen Custard, Gelati, Concretes, Frozen Coffee, Rita\u2019s Blendini and milkshakes.<\/p>\n
