Thousands of fans of the popular sitcom \u201cThe Office\u201d flock to downtown Scranton<\/a> on Saturday afternoon to take part in The Office 5K. Before the running or walking begins, fans take to the stage for a costume contest runway show.<\/p>\n

Many decide to become their favorite episode. Halie Powers of Philadelphia says, \u201c\u2018Dinner Party\u2019 is my favorite episode, like ever. I love when Jan throws the Dundie at the $200 plasma screen TV. Still can\u2019t believe she did that. It is my favorite episode. It is so funny.\u201d<\/p>\n

Two couples make their way from Virginia to be here. They dressed up as Sabre store employees from the Season 8 episode \u201cTest the Store.\u201d Brenda Bordelon of Virginia says, \u201cOh! It\u2019s so exciting! We\u2019ve been talking about this for a few years now, so it\u2019s like something we\u2019ve been planning to do for a long time, so we\u2019re so excited.\u201d<\/p>\n

Maud Watson of Virginia says, \u201cYup, and Brenda came up with the idea to do the Sabre store employees, so we just kind of rolled with the idea.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Office 5K hasn\u2019t just reach fans around the country, but around the world. One group comes all the way from England. Tom Elson of Liverpool, England, says, \u201cIt\u2019s amazing. I think \u2018The Office\u2019 is the best sitcom, best show in the world.\u201d<\/p>\n

George Thomas of Liverpool, England, says, \u201cIt\u2019s crazy. We\u2019ve been walking around and seeing all the sights and stuff in \u2018The Office.\u2019 It seems surreal to be honest.\u201d<\/p>\n

Frankie Thomas of Liverpool, England, says, \u201cIt\u2019s just crazy. It\u2019s a once in a lifetime experience for us, so yeah. It\u2019s just weird seeing everything we\u2019ve seen on TV in person. It\u2019s very surreal.\u201d<\/p>\n

The nonprofit Valley in Motion puts on the 5K every year. President Gus Fahey says this year\u2019s costumes reign supreme.\u201cPeople did such an upgrade in their costumes this year that I have no idea what it\u2019s going to look like in Season 6. It\u2019s going to be so hard to beat.\u201d Fahey says Valley in Motion works to make the Electric City a thriving place for the community. He starts the 5K in hopes of showing love to the city he calls home.<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople think of Scranton as such a special place, and we in our area should be thinking the same way,” says Fahey.<\/p>\n
