PITTSBURGH \u2014 This year\u2019s Pittsburgh Marathon is one for the record books. More than 52,000 runners crossed the finish line, with more than 300,000 spectators cheering them on.<\/p>\n
Click here to see photos from the marathon.<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re welcoming people from around the world,\u201d P3R CEO Troy Schooley said. \u201cThis event has turned into an international event for our city. We\u2019re going to show it off today. The runners will run through 14 neighborhoods. We have 33 different countries represented today and all 50 states.\u201d<\/p>\n Mohammed El Youssfi claimed the men\u2019s division of the Pittsburgh Half Marathon<\/a>, crossing the finish line and immediately wrapping himself in the Moroccan flag.<\/p>\n \u201cThis is my first time in Pittsburgh, but the special moment for me today is the people here cheering me on,\u201d El Youssfi said. \u201cThat helped me to win the race.\u201d<\/p>\n Emotions ran high for Pittsburgh\u2019s very own Will Loevner.<\/a> The Winchester Thurston graduate has run the Pittsburgh Marathon multiple times, finishing as the runner-up in 2024 and fifth in 2025. But in 2026, he took home top honors, crossing the finish line first at 2:14.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve now won the Philadelphia marathon, the Cleveland marathon twice,\u201d Loevner said. \u201cTo win Pittsburgh, I feel like it was the trifecta and the most special one for me. I mean, being in the hometown, nothing even compares.\u201d<\/p>\n Buze Diriba Kejela is 2026\u2019s women\u2019s Pittsburgh Half Marathon champion, setting a course record for women and crossing the finish line at 1:08:39.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m happy to set the course record. I like it,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n Before the runners crossed the start line, the handcyclists got a head start. Marshall Tempest of Monroeville came out on top in the Pittsburgh Marathon Handcycle Division, finishing at 1:40:16.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve done 13 Pittsburgh marathons, and this is my 5th time winning it, in a row,\u201d he said. \u201cIt feels good. It was a rough one, but I was determined to get that 5th one.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI love running,\u201d said Will Henry Lawrence, who ran the half-marathon. \u201cI love being able to have breath in my lungs and let my feet hit the pavement. I had a stroke six years ago, and so I give all glory to God for being able to get out and exercise.\u201d<\/p>\n Tickets for the 2027 Pittsburgh Marathon are on sale for 48 hours, starting at 3 p.m. on May 3, 2026.
