Walkers gathered Saturday morning to take part in the annual MS Walk, supporting research and resources for those living with multiple sclerosis.<\/p>\n
The event was part of a nationwide effort through the National MS Society, which helps fund treatment advancements and provides support services for patients and families.<\/p>\n
MS Walk Erie \u2013 National Multiple Sclerosis Society aims to raise $50,000 for research <\/a><\/p>\n \u201cMS is an autoimmune disease where the myelin sheath of your nerve gets damaged because your white blood cells attack the myelin sheath of your nerve shell, and it causes a disconnect and a miscommunication in your brain, your spine, and the rest of your body,\u201d said Isabella Kling, an MS ambassador for the MS Society.<\/p>\n Everyone walked for a different cause, whether it be a friend, family member, or loved one, to raise $50,000.<\/p>\n \u201cI think my family is a really prime example, my whole family, my teammates, all of us came together to support my mom, who has MS. And you just see this whole community of people who all come together for that exact cause,\u201d Kling said.<\/p>\n Saturday\u2019s walk here in Erie was just one of hundreds happening across the country, all with the same goal \u2014 bringing us one step closer to a cure.<\/p>\n \u201cYou see everything that they\u2019re doing all the time, how could we not get out there and support them.
