SCRANTON, LACKWANNA CO. (WOLF) \u2014 Marywood University is celebrating the success of a public art initiative that brought large-scale projection displays and community engagement to its campus.<\/p>\n
The project, known as \u201cLighting Up Scranton 2025,\u201d featured two immersive 3D projection installations on the exterior of the Liberal Arts Center Rotunda. The displays transformed the building into a dynamic visual experience during events held in May and September of last year.<\/p>\n
University officials say more than 1,500 people attended the free events, which were designed to showcase how art and technology can reimagine public spaces and bring the community together.<\/p>\n
The installations were supported in part by a $5,000 grant from the Scranton Area Community Foundation.<\/p>\n
In addition to the public displays, the September event included an educational component for students. Artist Anna Warfield led a workshop and panel discussion for Marywood\u2019s School of Architecture, offering insight into the creative and technical process behind projection mapping.<\/p>\n
Organizers say the project relied on detailed digital mapping of the building\u2019s exterior, allowing artists to design visuals that interact with and reshape the structure in real time.<\/p>\n
The initiative was carried out in partnership with the Scranton Fringe Festival, Observe Scranton Fest, and The Center for the Living City, along with technical support from local production teams.<\/p>\n
