A 21-year-old Hughestown man \u2014 who state police say was under the influence of drugs inside a Jefferson Twp. convenience store \u2014 faces vehicle theft and other charges.<\/p>\n
Troopers responded to the Onvo, 1174 Mount Cobb Road, Friday around 2:33 a.m. for a report of an intoxicated male, according to a criminal complaint.<\/p>\n
The store manager told troopers a male was lying on the floor in the bathroom in front of the urinals. The manager also told police a bag containing rectangular pills was found on the floor near where the male entered the store.<\/p>\n
The man \u2014 identified as David Christian Walker \u2014 was driving a black 2010 Subaru Forester which troopers discovered was reported stolen by Jefferson Twp. police, according to the criminal complaint.<\/p>\n
Troopers noted Walker was nodding off and slurring his speech inside the store.<\/p>\n
While searching Walker for weapons, troopers observed a camouflage beanie hat in his pocket with the tag still attached. The store manager told officers Walker didn\u2019t pay for the item, valued at $19.99, troopers said. Troopers also found a bag containing a crystallized substance and a multicolored THC vape in the shape of a bear, according to the criminal complaint.<\/p>\n
The key for the stolen Subaru \u2014 parked at a gas pump \u2014 was found in Walker\u2019s pocket, police said.<\/p>\n
Additionally, police seized a glass smoking device with white drug residue and a round container labeled \u201cCitrus Spritz THC\u201d from the unlocked vehicle.<\/p>\n
Police charged Walker with receiving stolen property, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, retail theft, possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and public drunkenness.<\/p>\n
As of Monday, Walker, 150 Rock St., remained in Lackawanna County Prison in lieu of $25,000 bail.
