{"id":18392,"date":"2025-10-29T05:09:09","date_gmt":"2025-10-29T05:09:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/18392\/"},"modified":"2025-10-29T05:09:09","modified_gmt":"2025-10-29T05:09:09","slug":"erie-prophetstown-wins-riverdale-pulls-past-rock-falls-shaw-local","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/18392\/","title":{"rendered":"Erie-Prophetstown wins, Riverdale pulls past Rock Falls \u2013 Shaw Local"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-xb1qmn-0 gBIiEi body-paragraph\">After resting up some players to close the regular season, Erie-Prophetstown looked sharp to open the postseason in a Class 2A Rock Falls Regional semifinal win over Oregon on Tuesday night. <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-xb1qmn-0 gBIiEi body-paragraph\">The top-seeded Panthers beat the ninth-seeded Hawks 25-12, 25-12 to advance to Thursday\u2019s regional final at 6 p.m. against Riverdale. I think that\u2019s our big word this season,\u201d Keegan said. \u201cWe are a dedicated, hard-working team.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-xb1qmn-0 gBIiEi body-paragraph\">Oregon led the first set 1-0 but but would not lead again. <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-xb1qmn-0 gBIiEi body-paragraph\">Emma Eckerd led the Hawks (5-20) with nine assists and eight digs. Skylar Bishop (two digs) had a block and an ace, and Lola Schwarz (two digs) had two kills.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-xb1qmn-0 gBIiEi body-paragraph\">Oregon was coming off a win over Hall on Monday. <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-xb1qmn-0 gBIiEi body-paragraph\">Oregon coach Farrell Cain said the Panthers tall, powerful attackers were a challenge. <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-xb1qmn-0 gBIiEi body-paragraph\">\u201cAll around, I think they\u2019re a good team, that\u2019s why they took the first seed,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-xb1qmn-0 gBIiEi body-paragraph\">Johnson said holding themselves to a high standard can be stressful for the Panthers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-xb1qmn-0 gBIiEi body-paragraph\">\u201cI think just staying calm, playing our game and just pushing through until the end,\u201d she said of what keys success. \u201cJust play as one. Paschal)<\/p>\n<p>Rockets lose momentum, fall to Riverdale<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-xb1qmn-0 gBIiEi body-paragraph\">The first set was there for the taking. <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-xb1qmn-0 gBIiEi body-paragraph\">Facing Riverdale in a back-and-forth contest to open the postseason, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shawlocal.com\/tags\/rock-falls-preps\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.shawlocal.com\/tags\/rock-falls-preps\/\">Rock Falls<\/a> had a late one-point lead after a Kayla Hackbarth kill.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-xb1qmn-0 gBIiEi body-paragraph\">But the Rams stepped up when it mattered most in the regional semifinal matchup. <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-xb1qmn-0 gBIiEi body-paragraph\">Fifth-seeded Riverdale scored the final three points to take the first set en route to a 26-24, 25-16 win. The Rams advanced to face top-seeded E-P in Thursday\u2019s regional final at 6 p.m.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-xb1qmn-0 gBIiEi body-paragraph\">\u201cRiverdale has been playing well toward the end of their season,\u201d Rock Falls Jolene Bickett said. \u201cI thought we had been, too.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-xb1qmn-0 gBIiEi body-paragraph\">\u201cThat first set, we kind of gave it away at the end.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-xb1qmn-0 gBIiEi body-paragraph\">Bickett said some untimely mistakes came back to bite the Rockets (21-15) in the first set. <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-xb1qmn-0 gBIiEi body-paragraph\">\u201cAnd then in the second set, I thought we played well, and then in a couple rotations, the wheels fell off,\u201d she said. \u201cRiverdale played well. I think we\u2019re pretty even on any given night, but today, they were the better team. Miley Bickett had 14 assists and six digs as Bre Dallgas-Frey added four digs.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-xb1qmn-0 gBIiEi body-paragraph\">The Rams used a barrage of aces down the stretch to close out the second set after the Rockets led 15-14. <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-xb1qmn-0 gBIiEi body-paragraph\">\u201cWe just serve-received very well,\u201d Riverdale coach Amy Mitton said. \u201cThat\u2019s something that we work on all the time. They played very hard, and they worked together. It\u2019s a team that I\u2019m really proud of.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-xb1qmn-0 gBIiEi body-paragraph\">Coach Bickett said a few more things needed to go her team\u2019s way. <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-xb1qmn-0 gBIiEi body-paragraph\">\u201cI thought we stuck to our game plan and they executed it pretty well,\u201d she said. \u201cI think if we could have gotten that first set home, the second set would have been a little bit different, but that\u2019s volleyball.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-xb1qmn-0 gBIiEi body-paragraph\">Bickett said this year\u2019s group has been one of the best she\u2019s been a part of. <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-xb1qmn-0 gBIiEi body-paragraph\">\u201cThey will be successful,\u201d she said. \u201cEverybody loves to come to practice because they have fun, and it\u2019s such a positive environment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"ImageMetadata__MetadataParagraph-sc-1gn0vty-0 ijEZZk image-metadata\">Rock Falls&#8217; Breanna Dallgas-Frey makes a a pass against Riverdale Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2025, in the Class 2A regional semifinal at Rock Falls.
