A man was killed late Monday, officials said, after gunfire erupted during an argument at a bar in Philadelphia’s East Mount Airy community. <\/p>\n
According to Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small, the incident began at about 11:30 p.m. on Monday, when officers were called to a bar along the 8100 block of Stenton Avenue following reports of gunfire. <\/p>\n
Here, Small said, first responders found a 37-year-old man, laying unresponsive near a pool table after he had suffered gunshot wounds to his torso and arm. <\/p>\n
The man was immediately taken to a nearby hospital where, Small said, he was pronounced at about 11:39 p.m. <\/p>\n
At the bar, investigators recovered seven spent shells and a broken pool stick, leading police to believe the shooting was the result of a fight, Small said. <\/p>\n
No arrests have yet been made and, Small said, police did not immediately have a description of the shooter involved in this incident.<\/p>\n
But, he said, the bar was equipped with cameras throughout the interior and he expects to learn more about this shooting following a review of that footage. <\/p>\n
Also, several bar patrons remained at the scene and were cooperating with the police investigation, including one customer who turned over a firearm to police, Small said. <\/p>\n
Inside a BMW parked outside the bar, Small said, officers also recovered a handgun that is being kept as evidence in this incident. <\/p>\n
Investigators, he said, had transported some witnesses who were at the bar at the time the shooting occurred have been transported to police headquarters for questioning. <\/p>\n
An investigation, he said, remains ongoing. <\/p>\n
