BERKS COUNTY, Pa. \u2014 At Bertie’s Inn in Exeter Township, fans filled the tables.<\/p>\n
Families. Friends. And even birthday celebrations.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve always been a Flyers fan, most of Philly,\u201d said Stacey Eckert.<\/p>\n
For Eckert, it was about more than just the games.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a beautiful day to be outside and sitting and enjoying company. This place is really down to earth and incorporates all kinds of sports. It\u2019s just a great atmosphere,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
At the same table, another fan celebrated with what he calls his \u201cadopted family.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI have no real family in Reading, so my friends \u2014 that\u2019s my family,\u201d said Richard Davidson.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe typically get pretty packed. We have fun here,\u201d said Adrianna Schwab, bartender manager.<\/p>\n
Staff say when Philly teams are playing, the energy changes.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe vibes are good. The energy is good. We have a bell that we ring for all the Philly sports, but specifically for the Phillies when they score home runs. It\u2019s just really fun,\u201d Schwab said.<\/p>\n
And with both the Flyers and Sixers in the playoffs, expectations are high.<\/p>\n
\u201cUsually, we\u2019ve got a good crowd coming in right away. We\u2019re excited with all the sports because Saturday, the same teams played. We had about 255 guests total, so a pretty packed house,\u201d said Madison Kennedy, bartender\/manager.<\/p>\n
The restaurant also has some brand-new T-shirts.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have two new prints for Bertie\u2019s. We have a Bertie\u2019s Flyers shirt. It says \u2018beer, food, hockey, repeat.\u2019 And then the back says \u2018have fun, be kind.\u2019 And we have a new Philly shirt this year,\u201d Kennedy said.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, at P.J. Whelihan’s in Spring Township, kitchen manager Eddie Soto said nights like this bring a different kind of energy.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf you\u2019re a Philly fan, you know this is a big day for us. Flyers are playing really good, probably, if not, one of the hottest teams in hockey right now,\u201d Soto said.<\/p>\n
He said with multiple games happening at the same time, the crowd stays there all night.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt almost feels like you\u2019re at the game without being in Philly,\u201d Soto said.<\/p>\n
Staff say game days often mean packed tables.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt means a lot to us. We\u2019re a real big Philly sports-based company.
