Gabe Alvarez, who led the Erie SeaWolves to their first Eastern League Championship, has been fired by the Detroit Tigers<\/a> organization as of Tuesday, May 5th.<\/p>\n

The Tigers<\/a> offered the following statement following their decision:<\/p>\n

We have terminated\u00a0the contract of\u00a0Gabe Alvarez as the manager of Triple-A Toledo due to a violation of club policy. Mike Hessman will serve as interim manager.\u00a0We\u00a0will have no further comment.<\/p>\n

\u2013TIGERS\u2013<\/p>\n

Alvarez served as manager of the SeaWolves from 2022 to 2024 before his promotion to triple-A Toledo in 2025.<\/p>\n

The 52-year-old led Erie to three straight appearances in the Eastern League championship series including the club winning its first league title in 2023 under his direction.<\/p>\n

Alvarez guided Erie to back to back championships in 23\u2032 and 2024 along with the three southwest division titles and 2022 league championship appearance.<\/p>\n
