PHILADELPHIA, PA \u2014 Katherine Gilmore Richardson donated toiletries to support a student-led initiative by West Chester University aimed at providing hygiene supplies to Philadelphia residents, with collections continuing through May 16, 2026.<\/p>\n
The Pretty Finer Glow & Give initiative, founded in 2023, collects personal care items such as toilet paper and paper towels for distribution to individuals and families in need across the city.<\/p>\n
The program was established by Amika Coleman of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. and Journey Washington of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc..<\/p>\n
In 2025, the initiative raised more than $800 and distributed hygiene kits through Chosen 300 Ministries, Inc. and other community partners.<\/p>\n
\u201cAccess to basic hygiene products is essential to dignity and well-being,\u201d Gilmore Richardson said, citing the need to address gaps affecting families.<\/p>\n
She said the student organizers are identifying community needs and responding with consistent service efforts.<\/p>\n
Gilmore Richardson, an at-large member of Philadelphia City Council, has focused on workforce development, fiscal policy, support for working families and environmental initiatives during her tenure.<\/p>\n
