A 20-year-old Upper Darby man has been denied bail in the killing of his mother in their home in the 4600 block of State Road.<\/p>\n
Quadir Ford was arraigned on first- and third-degree murder and related charges in the stabbing death of his mother, Michelle Fleming, on Monday.<\/p>\n
According to the arrest affidavit:<\/p>\n
Emergency medical personnel responded about 4:20 p.m. for a person in cardiac arrest, then while en route the call was upgraded to a stabbing. When officers arrived another son of the victim was in the driveway screaming that his mother was dead.<\/p>\n
Officers went inside quickly and found Fleming on her back on the kitchen floor. Life-saving efforts were quickly shown to be ineffective. She was pronounced dead at 4:30.<\/p>\n
A person in the affidavit called Witness 1 said he went to work in the morning and returned home to find Fleming on the floor. He added that her vehicle and cellphone were missing.<\/p>\n
The witness and police were soon tracking the phone and learned it was in Springfield Township. Township Officer Anthony Minor pulled over Ford in the 700 block of West Sproul Road in his mother\u2019s vehicle.<\/p>\n
Ford was soon in custody, and later during questioning admitting that he and his mother argued, then he grabbed a knife and stabbed her. He added that he discarded some items, including the knife, in a trash can and took the car and her phone.<\/p>\n
Ford was arraigned by District Judge Diane M.
