{"id":185484,"date":"2026-05-06T17:18:11","date_gmt":"2026-05-06T17:18:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/185484\/"},"modified":"2026-05-06T17:18:11","modified_gmt":"2026-05-06T17:18:11","slug":"pitt-opens-quantum-innovation-center-three-years-after-securing-11-6m-loan-wpxi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/185484\/","title":{"rendered":"Pitt opens quantum innovation center three years after securing $11.6M loan \u2013 WPXI"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">PITTSBURGH \u2014 Three years after securing millions of dollars in funding, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bizjournals.com\/pittsburgh\/organization\/university-of-pittsburgh\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">University of Pittsburgh<\/a> has opened the doors to its new quantum innovation center.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bizjournals.com\/pittsburgh\/inno\/stories\/profiles\/2023\/05\/25\/university-of-pittsburgh-quantum-computing-hub.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The Western Pennsylvania Quantum Information Core was first announced in May 2023 alongside an announcement that it had secured a loan of $11.6 million from Pitt\u2019s Strategic Advancement Fund<\/a>. While traditional computers utilize bits with signals of ones and zeroes, quantum computing\u2019s qubits exist in an on or off state with the ability to exist in a state between the two, allowing for machines to solve advanced mathematical problems.
