The City of Erie is celebrating major athletic achievements from Gannon University, honoring both a championship-winning coach and a standout student-athlete for their historic seasons.<\/p>\n
Members of Erie City Council recently presented Gannon men\u2019s basketball coach Easton Bazolli recognizing his leadership in guiding the Golden Knights to their first-ever national championship. The honor comes after a remarkable season ending last month in Indianapolis, where Gannon secured an 84\u201361 victory over Lander in the NCAA Division II Championship game.<\/p>\n
Under Bazolli\u2019s direction, the team delivered a dominant performance on the national stage, marking a milestone moment not only for the program but also for the university and the Erie community.<\/p>\n
City Council also took time to recognize another historic achievement in Gannon athletics, paying tribute to men\u2019s wrestler Dorian Crosby. The Erie native captured the 2026 NCAA Division II heavyweight wrestling championship on March 14, capping off an undefeated season.<\/p>\n
Crosby became the first Gannon wrestler in 25 years to win a national title. His accomplishment represents a return to national prominence for the program and highlights the impact of local talent competing at the highest level.<\/p>\n
