{"id":185686,"date":"2026-05-06T21:47:20","date_gmt":"2026-05-06T21:47:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/185686\/"},"modified":"2026-05-06T21:47:20","modified_gmt":"2026-05-06T21:47:20","slug":"driver-seen-near-erie-fatal-hit-and-run-was-not-involved-police-say-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/185686\/","title":{"rendered":"Driver seen near Erie fatal hit-and-run was not involved, police say"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Erie police have determined a driver who was seen in the area of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailycamera.com\/2026\/02\/16\/erie-child-dies-hit-run-crash\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">hit-and-run crash that killed a 2-year-old<\/a> in southeast Erie in February was not involved in the crash.\n<\/p>\n<p>Investigators identified the driver of a white Cadillac Escalade after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailycamera.com\/2026\/04\/15\/hit-run-crash-toddler-police-erie\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">asking for the community\u2019s help in April<\/a>, according to Amber Luttrell, an Erie police spokesperson. Police interviewed the driver and determined they were not involved.<\/p>\n<p>Police continue to investigate another person of interest, which could take several weeks, Luttrell said. The department is still waiting to receive crime lab testing results.<\/p>\n<p>Anyone with information related to the case can contact 303-441-4444. Even the smallest detail could help investigators, Luttrell said.<\/p>\n<p>The toddler was hit around 4:40 p.m. Feb. 15 east of Mountain View Boulevard and north of Village Vista Drive, according to an Erie Police Department social media post at the time. A motorist saw the 2-year-old lying in the road, stopped and called police, according to Luttrell.
