A recent report<\/a> describes a Republican effort to flip Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) from the Democratic party to the GOP. <\/p>\n

As Sen. Fetterman faces criticism from some Democrats and praise from some Republicans, his colleague, Senator Dave McCormick says he has not talked to Fetterman about switching parties but \u201cwould welcome him.\u201d<\/p>\n

The comments come after recent reporting in Politico described a Republican effort to convince Fetterman to switch parties or become an independent.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve never talked to him about changing parties, honestly,\u201d McCormick told NBC10\u2019s Lauren Mayk. \u201cI feel blessed to have him as my colleague, we’ve developed a real relationship of trust.\u201d<\/p>\n

McCormick said the two Pennsylvania lawmakers talk about issues that come up and what they feel is best for Pennsylvania.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think the thing about him that\u2019s kind of unique is he is willing to buck his party \u2013 often on issues I completely agree with him whether it\u2019s Iran or antisemitism or fracking, and that\u2019s the one thing I appreciate most about him,\u201d McCormick said.<\/p>\n

Asked whether he would want Fetterman as part of the Republican Party, McCormick said that\u2019s up to Fetterman.<\/p>\n

\u201cWell look I think it\u2019s most important that he decides what he wants,\u201d McCormick said. \u201cI\u2019d welcome him of course.\u201d<\/p>\n

NBC10 has reached out to Sen.
