Crews from around the region responded to a three-alarm fire that broke out at a vacant building in Duryea on Monday afternoon.<\/p>\n
Firefighters were dispatched to 404 Main St., the location of the former Yuhas and Sons Bar, shortly before 2 p.m.<\/p>\n
Responders sounded a second and then third alarm as firefighters reported a working fire at the rear of the building. The structure reportedly sustained a partial roof collapse as videos and photos from the scene showed flames leaping skyward and churning out a black plume of smoke.<\/p>\n
Firefighters reported that PPL had been dispatched to cut power in the area. Over 1,200 customers were affected by the incident, according to PPL\u2019s outage map.<\/p>\n
Crews from across the region, including from Lackawanna County, responded to battle the blaze.<\/p>\n
Duryea police closed down Main Street from Marcy Street to Lackawanna Avenue due to the fire, which was burning at Main Street\u2019s intersection of Stephenson Street.<\/p>\n
Officers advised the public to avoid the area.<\/p>\n
