PITTSBURGH \u2014 Free agent quarterback Aaron Rodgers will reportedly visit the Pittsburgh Steelers this weekend.<\/p>\n
According to NFL Insider Ian Rapoport, Rodgers is expected to visit on Friday and through the weekend. <\/p>\n
Rapoport reported that, according to his sources, Rodgers is likely to play for the Steelers this season.<\/p>\n
While the #Steelers<\/a> gave Rodgers the UFA tender, that\u2019s considered a place holder. Hard to imagine he plays for $15M, which is why a deal must be worked out and finalized. But Rodgers\u2019 plan is to play for PIT & these are steps toward that end,\u201d Rapoport said. <\/p>\n At the end of April, Steelers placed a rare right-of-first-refusal tender on Rodgers. Adam Schefter explained that Rodgers can accept a 10% raise from last year\u2019s salary, and the Steelers have the right to match any offer sheet he would sign with another team. A copy of the note sent to all NFL teams, which Schefter posted online, says that the Steelers get exclusive negotiating rights for Rodgers if he doesn\u2019t sign before July 22, or the first scheduled day of training camp.<\/p>\n Rodgers became a free agent at the end of his one-year deal with the Steelers. Since then, team leaders have made it clear that they want Rodgers back and were hopeful a deal would be done before the NFL Draft.<\/p>\n That did not transpire, and the Steelers selected Penn State\u2019s Drew Allar in the third round.
