UPPER SAUCON TWP., Pa. – The CEO of Shift4 said the company has delivered financial results in-line with expectations during what was a challenging quarter.<\/p>\n
Taylor Lauber discussed the Lehigh County-based payment processing company’s fiscal 2026 first quarter results during a webcast with investors and media on Thursday morning.<\/p>\n
Gross revenue was $1.1 billion, which is up 32% year over year. Gross revenue less network fees was $549 million and gross profit was $370 million, up 49% and 54% year over year, respectively.<\/p>\n
Net income was $12 million for the quarter, compared to $20 million a year ago.<\/p>\n
Non-GAAP EPS (earnings per share) was $0.97, just below the Zacks Investment Research consensus estimate of $0.99. A year ago, that figure was $1.07.<\/p>\n
Lauber said, while the results were in-line with Shift4’s guidance, they were also negatively impacted by unforeseeable events, including the conflict in the Middle East and inconsistent consumer sentiment.<\/p>\n
“Our outlook for the full year remains fairly neutral, and our guidance reflects this,” Lauber said. “We are not forecasting a dramatic recovery in the back half of the year.”<\/p>\n
But, despite disruptions to global travel patterns as a result of the Middle East conflict, Shift4’s international expansion is scaling nicely, Lauber said, noting that the company is now operating in over 75 countries that it was not in just a few years ago.<\/p>\n
“We do our best work during times of uncertainty,” said Lauber. “The deliberate and measured path we’ve been on, diversifying our revenue streams, expanding into new geography, deepening our product suite, is exactly what allows us to perform reasonably well when the environment gets tough.”<\/p>\n
Shares of Shift4 (NYSE: FOUR) were up about 12% to $48.18 in trading Thursday morning. Still, shares are near the bottom of their 52-week range. They’re down nearly 24% since the start of the year.<\/p>\n
The company’s current market capitalization is $3.4 billion.<\/p>\n
During the webcast, Lauber again attempted to clear up what he called “persistent confusion” in the market about who Shift4 competes with, and why the company continues to “win.”<\/p>\n
