{"id":186887,"date":"2026-05-08T05:08:10","date_gmt":"2026-05-08T05:08:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/186887\/"},"modified":"2026-05-08T05:08:10","modified_gmt":"2026-05-08T05:08:10","slug":"tri-state-police-chief-on-leave-amid-outside-investigation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/186887\/","title":{"rendered":"Tri-State police chief on leave amid outside investigation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text | article-text\">READING, Ohio (WXIX) &#8211; Reading Police Chief Bryan Edens is on leave amid an outside investigation, city officials announced on social media.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cEffective May 6, the Mayor has placed the city\u2019s Police Chief on Administrative Leave pending the results of an external investigation,\u201d the city\u2019s Facebook page states.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cAs with all personnel matters, we will have no further comment while there is an active investigation ongoing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cLieutenant Daniel Flottemesch has been named interim chief of the department until further notice.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">State records show Edens has been with Reading police since 2020, and he\u2019s also worked for Elmwood Place police.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">He was sworn in as Reading\u2019s police chief in April 2020, the city announced at the time.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Edens has been a law enforcement officer for more than 30 years, according to the Ohio Attorney General\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">FOX19 NOW reached out to the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and the Hamilton County Prosecutor\u2019s Office for comment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">We will update this story when we hear back. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text text-start\">See a spelling or grammatical error in our story? <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fox19.com\/page\/report-typos-to-fox19\/\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Please click here to report it<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text text-start\">Do you have a photo or video of a breaking news story?
