Lawmakers, law enforcement, and community members came together to highlight the positive impact that Aimee\u2019s Law can have.<\/p>\n

Aimee\u2019s Law, spearheaded by State Senator Dan Laughlin, was formally introduced to the Senate as Senate Bill 1311.<\/p>\n

\u00a0Aimee\u2019s Law receives Senate bill number, state reps. ask public for support\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n

This proposed legislation would establish a public registry for those convicted of felony animal abuse and local first responders and animal rights advocates are showing their support.<\/p>\n

Aimee, the husky puppy, was named after the first responder who received the call reporting her condition, and she recalls the lasting impact it has on her.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was the hardest moment of my life. We take calls every single day. Animal calls are hard, and to see this dog and the way that she was, I just remember laying there with her, crying and saying, \u2018You\u2019re not alone, you\u2019re safe now,’\u201d said Aimee Fries, a community services officer with the Erie Police Department.<\/p>\n

Senator Laughlin said that while the proposed bill would become a state law, he hopes that other states take a similar stand against animal cruelty.<\/p>\n
