Senate has approved legislation proposed by Senator Wayne Langerholc Jr. to eliminate outdated vehicle emissions program in Pennsylvania. This bill was approved by Senate in a bipartisan manner.<\/p>\n
Within the commonwealth 25 counties are currently subjected to annual emissions testing. Senate Bill 1298 will remove this requirement and ensure that additional counties cannot be added into the program.<\/p>\n
\u201cPeople are being squeezed from every direction, and the last thing they should be forced to bankroll are outdated mandates that do nothing but drain their wallets,\u201d said Langerholc. \u201cIf a mandate doesn\u2019t serve the public anymore, it has no business siphoning money from working families.\u201d<\/p>\n
In February 2025 Senate passed this legislation and every legislative session since the 2019 to 2020 legislative session. These measures had yet to receive consideration in the House of Representatives.<\/p>\n
In response Langerholc stated, \u201cIt is beyond time that the House of Representatives bring vehicle emissions reform to a vote and give Pennsylvania motorists much needed relief.\u201d<\/p>\n
