The Pittsburgh Penguins<\/a> have signed forward Connor Dewar<\/a> to a two-year, $4.5 million contract that carries a cap hit of $2.25 million, the team announced on Thursday.<\/p>\n

Dewar, 26, recorded 14 goals and 30 points in 78 games with the Penguins this season with a plus-16 rating. He added two goals in six playoff games before his team was eliminated in the first round.<\/p>\n

The 5-foot-10 centre is coming off a one-year, $1.1 million contract and was scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1.<\/p>\n

Pittsburgh acquired Dewar, along with the defenceman Conor Timmins<\/a>, from the Toronto Maple Leafs<\/a> in March of 2025 in exchange for a draft pick.<\/p>\n

Drafted 92nd overall by the Minnesota Wild<\/a> in 2018, Dewar has 37 goals and 83 points in 316 career games split between the Wild, Maple Leafs, and Penguins.<\/p>\n

Penguins extend Solovyov<\/p>\n

The Penguins also extended defenceman Ilya Solovyov<\/a> to a one-year, $850,000 contract.<\/p>\n

Solovyov, 25, finished last season with the Penguins after he was acquired from the Colorado Avalanche<\/a> for forward Valtteri Puustinen and a draft pick on Jan. 20.<\/p>\n

He recorded a goal and eight points in 30 games split between the Avalanche and Penguins while averaging 12:45 of ice time.<\/p>\n

The 6-foot-3, left-shot blueliner was coming off a two-year, $1.55 million contract that carried a cap hit of $775,000 and was scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent in July.<\/p>\n

Drafted 205th overall by the Calgary Flames<\/a> in 2020, Solovyov has a goal and 12 points in 45 career games split between the Flames, Avalanche, and Penguins.<\/p>\n
