Pittsburgh Pirates<\/a> legendary player and coach Bob Skinner has died, the organization has announced<\/a>. He was 94.<\/p>\n

Skinner won a World Series title with the Pirates in 1960 as a player and in 1979 as a coach. He also won a World Series championship when playing for the St. Louis Cardinals<\/a> in 1964.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are saddened to relay the news of the passing of former Pirates outfielder and coach Bob Skinner,\u201d the Pirates posted<\/a> on X. \u201cSkinner was a member of the 1960 World Series Championship Pirates and a coach on the 1979 World Series Championship team. He made his Major League debut with the Bucs in 1954 and played nine of his 12 seasons in Pittsburgh.\u201d<\/p>\n

In addition to winning three World Series titles, Skinner was also a three-time MLB All-Star during his time with the Pirates.<\/p>\n

Across his 12 MLB seasons, Skinner hit .277 with 103 home runs and 531 RBIs.<\/p>\n

He set a career high in batting average in 1958, hitting .321 with 13 homers and 70 RBIs.<\/p>\n

Skinner\u2019s best power season came in 1962 when he hit .302 with 20 home runs and 75 RBIs.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn behalf of the entire Pirates organization, we extend our deepest condolences to Bob\u2019s family, friends and all those who knew and loved him.\u201d<\/p>\n

In addition to the Pirates and Cardinals, Skinner also played for the Cincinnati Reds<\/a>.<\/p>\n

During his coaching career he was the manager of the Phillies<\/a> for parts of two seasons and also served as the Padres\u2019 an interim manager for a game.<\/p>\n
