The bridge that carries Meadows Road over Saucon Creek in Lower Saucon Township officially reopened Friday.<\/p>\n
Northampton County Executive Tara Zrinski\u2019s office said that the first cars were able to cross County Bridge No. 15 for the first time in almost eight years after a final inspection and a ribbon-cutting ceremony. It concluded years of coordination, planning, and funding efforts through PennDOT. Construction on the replacement bridge began in late 2024.<\/p>\n
The former span was closed in 2018 after a 4-foot hole developed in it. The historic bridge was demolished a few years later. It had been built in 1858 and was one of two, four-span stone arch bridges in the county.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis project represents years of work and coordination to restore an important transportation connection for our residents,\u201d Zrinski said in a news release. \u201cReopening the Meadows Road Bridge improves travel throughout Lower Saucon Township while demonstrating Northampton County\u2019s continued commitment to investing in critical infrastructure.\u201d<\/p>\n
