The Philadelphia Union head back on the road for their first of two matches away from home, visiting New England Revolution for the first time in over a year. The Saturday night matchup at Gillette Stadium is set to begin at 7:30pm, tune in for coverage on Apple TV<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Head Coach Bradley Carnell and his squad began their busy month of May at home, holding first place Nashville SC to a 0-0 draw at Subaru Park on Saturday. It was one of many tough tests the team will face in May, as New England Revolution, Orlando City, Columbus Crew, and Inter Miami CF round out their remaining MLS schedule before the nearly two-months long World Cup break.<\/p>\n

\n Scouting the opponent<\/p>\n

After finishing the 2025 season below the playoff line in 11th place in the East, New England has fared far better in 2026. As it stands, the side led by new Head Coach Marko Mitrovic they sit just below Nashville in second place with six wins, three losses, and one draw so far this year.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Expectedly, Spanish Desginated Player Carles Gil has had a strong start to the year in the midfield with three goals and three assists. The only player with more contributions than him is Argentine U-22 player Luca Langoni with one goal and six assists. The pair are just two on a long list of 11 Revs players that have hit the back of the net this season, including five defenders.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey have a really good shape and a structure now, and Carles Gil is finding freedom and dictating the play as he always has done for many, many years,\u201d Carnell said in his Thursday press conference, previewing the matchup.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThen they’ve supplemented a bit of youth in and around that roster as well. So they’re feeling very high about themselves, as they should. Especially at home, they’ve done really well, and it’s never easy playing against that.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n Stepping up while shorthanded<\/p>\n

Another match means another challenge ahead for the 1-3-7 Philadelphia Union, and they\u2019ll likely have to try to overcome it without two key pieces in this year\u2019s squad in Japhet Sery Larsen and Jesus Bueno.<\/p>\n

\u201cJesus Bueno, with his ankle, we’re still assessing that, so we’ll see today what the medical guys say about it. But Jeff’s probably going to miss this one as well. He’s just still struggling with his shoulder joint, but we’ll just progress as tolerated and see where we are next week. Got a big week coming up as well, so, that’s probably the two out,\u201d Carnell said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

With Sery Larsen\u2019s absence, Saturday could bring about another opportunity for Geiner Martinez, who subbed on for the Danish defender early in Saturday\u2019s game against Nashville. He played 75 minutes \u2013 his longest shift yet, helping hold a high-scoring Nashville to just their third goalless outing in 2026.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Saturday\u2019s match in New England is the first of three for the Union in a week\u2019s time.
