ERIE, Kan. \u2014 The city clerk in Erie has been arrested and fired over allegations of stealing city funds.<\/p>\n

Authorities arrested Jessica Altman yesterday on felony theft charges. Thursday afternoon, the Neosho County prosecutor charged Altman with two counts of theft and eight counts of making false information.<\/p>\n

Kansas school accused of mishandling student safety issues <\/a><\/p>\n

This follows an investigation by the Neosho County Sheriff\u2019s Office over missing funds belonging to the City of Erie. According to court documents, the funds total slightly more than $4,500, with the first instance happening back in December.<\/p>\n

The investigation is ongoing and city leaders say they are cooperating with the investigation.<\/p>\n

The City of Erie fired Altman yesterday. She has been the Erie City Clerk since 2024.<\/p>\n
