{"id":18764,"date":"2025-10-29T15:09:14","date_gmt":"2025-10-29T15:09:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/18764\/"},"modified":"2025-10-29T15:09:14","modified_gmt":"2025-10-29T15:09:14","slug":"fisherman-drowns-near-edgewater-pier","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/18764\/","title":{"rendered":"Fisherman drowns near Edgewater Pier"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A fisherman died Tuesday evening after drowning in Lake Erie near the Edgewater Fishing Pier, Cleveland Fire said.<\/p>\n<p>Around 8:13 p.m., crews responded to the area after witnesses reported seeing the man struggling in four-to six-foot waves, Cleveland Fire said. <\/p>\n<p>According to Cleveland Metroparks Police, while attempting to rescue 71-year-old Tak Yun Wong, he was swept by the waves. Cleveland Fire said he died by the time they arrived on the scene.<\/p>\n<p>Crews were unable to safely recover the fisherman from the shoreline due to treacherous conditions, Cleveland Fire said.<\/p>\n<p>His body was recovered on Wednesday morning. <\/p>\n<p>We Follow Through<\/p>\n<p>Want us to continue to follow through on a story?
