\n\t\t\t\t\t\tThe Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf is celebrating a national championship for their robotics team.The big win came in the National Technical Institute for the Deaf Regional STEM Center\u2019s robotics competition. Watch that video above.\u201cIt was my first time to be involved in so much, and there were so many barriers. I was worried about us losing, but I decided to just accept and try our best,” WPSD senior E. Horn said.\u201cOur goal has been to show other schools that deaf people can do this, and be competitive, so no longer can they say they can\u2019t,” robotics coach L. Giancola said.\u201cWe are truly proud of our students,” WPSD Principal Greg Mendenhall said. “I know they\u2019ve worked very hard this entire year, and they\u2019ve taken classes throughout the fall since August and worked very hard to build the robots, facing some challenges along the way \u2014 building the robot, making it move the way they need it to \u2014 and they really overcame all of these boundaries, all these limitations.\u201dThe school hopes their accomplishments will help inspire others to try things like robotics and even drones.Download the WTAE app to stay connected with breaking news.
