\n\t\t\t\t\t\tThe Monongahela Incline is closed until further notice after the cars unexpectedly stopped overnight. The cars, carrying one passenger each, stalled around 11 p.m. Thursday night due to a control-system issue, according to Pittsburgh Regional Transit. The passengers were rescued by the Pittsburgh EMS Technical Rescue Team after being stuck for more than 90 minutes. “It\u2019s pretty shocking. I mean, I would hate to have to be in a situation where I\u2019d have to get, you know, rescued,\u201d said Cameron Spooner, a frequent Mon Incline passenger.A PRT spokesperson said maintenance personnel were unable to restore service overnight.\u201cThe incline will remain closed while maintenance and engineering teams continue troubleshooting the system, evaluating control components, and making any necessary repairs or adjustments needed to safely restore service,\u201d said Adam Brandolph with PRT. Shuttles are available every 10-15 minutes in place of the incline service. \u201cI\u2019ve lived here for about two years. I\u2019ve noticed I can think about three or four times it\u2019s been shut down. I\u2019ve also just always had bad luck with it,\u201d Mount Washington resident Eve Ruley told Pittsburgh\u2019s Action News 4 Reporter Jordan Cioppa. The rescue is the second one in six months. Back in November, nearly 30 passengers were stuck on the Mon Incline for hours when the cars unexpectedly stalled. However, some commuters like Spooner said they don\u2019t have safety concerns. \u201cI do understand that it’s older technology, and so there is a risk that it doesn\u2019t work,\u201d Spooner said. Todd DiFiore owns DiFiore\u2019s Ice Cream Delite and DiFiore\u2019s Grand Brew on Mount Washington. Both are just a short walk away from the Mon Incline station. DiFiore said 95% of his business comes from the incline. He is confident that will not change. \u201cMy season starts Memorial Day to Labor Day, and I\u2019m sure the PRT is going to do everything they can to keep things nice, operating, and running smoothly,\u201d DiFiore said. PRT said a state inspection is required for the incline to reopen once the repairs and testing are completed.\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n
