As Spirit Airlines exits the game, another low-cost airline is stepping up to increase its presence in Pittsburgh.<\/p>\n

According to Blue Sky News<\/a>, the public relations arm of Pittsburgh International Airport and the Allegheny County Airport Authority, Breeze Airways has announced the addition of its first international flights from PIT, along with a new Florida destination, as the carrier continues its growth in the market.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Breeze\u2019s multi-route expansion from PIT will bring nonstop service to Cancun, Mexico, and Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. It will also introduce service to Vero Beach, Fla. \u2014 Pittsburgh\u2019s first flights to the Treasure Coast.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are thrilled by the growth we have seen in Pittsburgh [and] are excited to start offering international service to guests in the area,\u201d David Neeleman, Breeze Airways\u2019 founder and CEO, says in a statement. \u201cVero Beach, Punta Cana and Cancun are destinations we know our guests will love and we can\u2019t wait to welcome them onboard.\u201d<\/p>\n

Service to Vero Beach will begin Oct. 1, 2026, and flights to Cancun and Punta Cana will begin Jan. 7, 2027. The new routes will operate three times a week seasonally on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, flown with 137-seat Airbus A220-300 aircraft.<\/p>\n

The expansion puts Breeze up to 18 nonstop routes from Pittsburgh, second only to Southwest Airlines\u2019 21 destinations. Since entering the Pittsburgh market five years ago with four initial markets, Breeze has successfully expanded into underserved markets with its \u201cpoint-to-point\u201d network structure with fuel-efficient Airbus A220 aircraft, offering an elevated onboard experience and affordable fares, according to Blue Sky News.<\/p>\n

\u201cBreeze is a fantastic partner in Pittsburgh, and we are thrilled to support their continued growth and investment with these three new routes,\u201d Bryan Dietz, senior vice president of air service and commercial development at PIT, says in a statement. \u201cWith 18 destinations available from Pittsburgh, Breeze offers travelers more options to places they want to go at a customizable price point to fit any budget.\u201d<\/p>\n

Breeze\u2019s announcement comes shortly after the airline began new service between PIT and Louisville, Ky. on April 30 and ahead of its Myrtle Beach service launching July 3. Nonstop flights to Louisville and Myrtle Beach operate seasonally, with Louisville flights offered on Sundays and Thursdays and Myrtle Beach on Mondays and Fridays.<\/p>\n

Additionally, Breeze has begun phasing in its summer schedule from Pittsburgh, resuming numerous seasonal routes including Greenville, S.C.; Jacksonville, Fla.; and Portland, Maine on May 1. On May 8, it resumed service to Norfolk-Virgina Beach, Va. and San Diego.
