Thursday morning, City of Erie Mayor Daria Devlin announced the city\u2019s 2026 Summer of Reading initiative at the Blasco Library.<\/p>\n
\u00a0Gabby Petito\u2019s mothers headline Erie Purple One domestic violence conference\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n The mayor said she wants to put a focus on literacy initiatives, making sure all city-funded programs this summer offer a literacy component.<\/p>\n Devlin said she is also kicking off a mayor\u2019s book club, with opportunities to meet and discuss selected books throughout the summer.<\/p>\n \u00a0Erie community members, leaders rally for Aimee\u2019s Law\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cThere\u2019s a lot of conversation around the fact that literacy is a social justice issue. If our kids can\u2019t read. They\u2019ll never be able to make the most of their future, so having those conversations really put it in my mind. Then, of course, we\u2019ve been talking about writing Erie\u2019s next chapter.
