Eileen Hewitt had two goals, four assists, seven ground balls, four draw controls and two caused turnovers to lead the University of Scranton women\u2019s lacrosse team to a 15-7 win over St. Mary\u2019s College of Maryland on Saturday in the opening round of the NCAA Division III Tournament in Glassboro, N.J.<\/p>\n
The Royals (16-4) will face Rowan University on Sunday at 3 p.m. in the second round.<\/p>\n
Jillian Lopez had three goals, two assists and four draw controls, Allyson Flynn had three goals, Alexandra Back had two goals, one assist, three ground balls and two caused turnovers, Mia Dinnocenzio added four caused turnovers and three ground balls and Eva Guerino had nine saves for Scranton.<\/p>\n
Sarah Fitter had three goals for the Seahawks (7-11).<\/p>\n
Baseball<\/p>\n
The University of Scranton baseball team rallied from a six-run deficit to defeat Susquehanna University, 12-6, to advance to the Landmark Conference baseball final.<\/p>\n
The Royals (27-15) will face Elizabethtown College (29-15), who eliminated Susquehanna from the tournament later Saturday with a 6-5 win in 11 innings, in Sunday\u2019s championship final at 11 a.m. at Penn Medicine Park in Lancaster. If Scranton loses, the teams will play again Sunday for the conference title. If the Royals win, they secure the Landmark crown.<\/p>\n
Susquehanna took a 6-0 lead into the sixth inning before Brayden Keller\u2019s RBI groundout cut the deficit to 6-1.<\/p>\n
Then, the Royals scored eight runs in the eighth to take the lead. Jimmy Lundari\u2019s RBI single and Jack Portman\u2019s bases-clearing double cut the deficit to 6-5. Jared Cassella\u2019s two-run double gave Scranton a 7-6 lead, and John Heitzman and Joey Granko extended the lead to 9-6 with an RBI double and an RBI single, respectively.<\/p>\n
Scranton added three insurance runs in the ninth. Keller scored on a wild pitch, Conor Campbell hit an RBI triple and Cassella hit an RBI double for a 12-6 advantage.<\/p>\n
Penn State Abington 7, Keystone 5: At Wilkes University, the Giants scored four runs late, but couldn\u2019t complete the comeback, as their season ended in the United East Conference semifinals.<\/p>\n
Keystone trailed, 7-1, in the seventh, but RBI singles from Dee Rice and Ray Moreta cut the deficit to 7-3. In the eighth, Emilio Portes and Rice tacked on RBI singles to cut the deficit to 7-5, but the Giants (28-12) couldn\u2019t get any closer.<\/p>\n
Men\u2019s lacrosse<\/p>\n
The University of Scranton suffered a 16-6 loss to Bowdoin College in the NCAA Division III Tournament second round Saturday in Brunswick, Maine.<\/p>\n
Quinn Carson had three goals, Brendan Donohue had one goal and two assists, David Dubas and Jack Crotty each had one goal and Logan Kelly and Jason Kozak each had an assist for the Royals, who finished their season 14-7.<\/p>\n
