Crews responded late Saturday to a fire in an apartment building in the 600 block of Beechwood Avenue in Collingdale.<\/p>\n
According to fire radio traffic:<\/p>\n
Upon arrival at the three-story building shortly before 11:30 p.m., smoke was reported from the front porch.<\/p>\n
Crews were also told that a male went back into the building and into an upstairs back bedroom. He soon came down the fire escape and out of the building.<\/p>\n
The fire was located in the rear of a first-floor apartment.\u00a0The bulk of the fire was reportedly \u201cknocked\u201d about 20 minutes into the incident.<\/p>\n
Searches were negative. A search of hot spots continued for some time. The incident was placed under control at 12:20 a.m. An extensive overhaul was expected.<\/p>\n
The Red Cross Southeastern Pennsylvania said it is assisting three people from the fire.<\/p>\n
Board-up was sought for six doors and 15 windows.<\/p>\n
