{"id":189124,"date":"2026-05-11T11:28:07","date_gmt":"2026-05-11T11:28:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/189124\/"},"modified":"2026-05-11T11:28:07","modified_gmt":"2026-05-11T11:28:07","slug":"woman-in-custody-after-barricading-herself-inside-pittsburgh-apartment-with-child-inside-wpxi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/189124\/","title":{"rendered":"Woman in custody after barricading herself inside Pittsburgh apartment with child inside \u2013 WPXI"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">PITTSBURGH \u2014 A woman is in custody after barricading herself inside a Pittsburgh apartment with her child on Monday morning, prompting a SWAT response.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">Public Safety officials said SWAT was called to the 100 block of Rhine Place shortly before 3 a.m. for a woman with an active warrant for domestic-related aggravated assault.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">Police said the incident all began when they say Brandy Johnson threw a brick at an ex-boyfriend\u2019s window, who also lives in the same complex. He suffered minor injuries.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">Officers were called out following the assault, and that\u2019s when police said Johnson barricaded herself inside her apartment with her 8-year-old son.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">SWAT and police were on scene for hours trying to get Johnson to come out.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">Officers eventually obtained a search warrant and were able to go inside to get her and her son out.
