The latest Aaron Rodgers development didn\u2019t clear things up. Instead, it only created more confusion. An initial report stated that Rodgers was visiting Pittsburgh, and it seemed like the veteran QB re-signing with the Steelers was imminent. However, more information surfaced that contradicted that, and now, while Rodgers was reportedly in Pittsburgh, he didn\u2019t visit the<\/a> Steelers.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt came out the Steelers didn\u2019t know he was even coming,\u201d Mike Florio said Monday on his Pro Football Talk podcast.<\/a> \u201cI talked to somebody who\u2019s plugged in, and internally, the Steelers\u2019 reaction was, \u2018It\u2019s just Aaron being Aaron.\u2019 It\u2019s just Aaron doing whatever Aaron does. And Aaron does things that people don\u2019t expect.\u201d<\/p>\n

It\u2019s unclear what the purpose of<\/a> Rodgers\u2019 trip to Pittsburgh was. Maybe he was simply visiting some friends he made in the city. Rodgers moves to the beat of his own drum, so it\u2019s tough to ascertain his motives.<\/p>\n

However, it sounds like there\u2019s still optimism that he\u2019ll eventually re-sign with the Steelers. No insider has suggested that this is a bad thing for the team. While Rodgers retiring is still a possibility, Mike McCarthy and Omar Khan have said they\u2019ve had regular communications with the four-time NFL MVP. That makes it seem like he\u2019s seriously considering playing this season.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s edition of the wait for Rodgers has been slightly different than last year\u2019s, but it\u2019s provided just as much frustration. The Steelers originally expected Rodgers\u2019 decision to come sooner than it did last offseason. Art Rooney II kept giving estimations for when the wait would end, but he hasn\u2019t been right yet.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s clear that Rodgers is on his own time. He\u2019ll make a decision when he wants to, and no sooner. The Steelers should\u2019ve expected this as this isn\u2019t the average NFL player. Rodgers is a unique individual.<\/a><\/p>\n

If Rodgers rejoins the Steelers, perhaps he\u2019ll explain why he was in Pittsburgh if not to talk to the team. Then again, Rodgers likes to keep his private life private.
