While the national average for a gallon of gas\u00a0dipped\u00a0over the past few days, the prices at the pump are still on the rise, especially\u00a0locally.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n
The average price for a gallon of gas is 15 cents higher in Pennsylvania<\/a> this week at\u00a0$4.672, according to AAA<\/a> East Central\u2019s Gas Price Report.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n In the Lehigh\u00a0Valley,\u00a0the average price for a gallon of gas rose to $4.534 on May 11, up from\u00a0$4.445 one week prior.\u00a0<\/p>\n On May 11,\u00a02025\u00a0the average price for a gallon of gas was $3.083.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n Despite\u00a0the decrease\u00a0over the past couple of days, this week\u2019s\u00a0national\u00a0average is still seven cents more than a week ago at $4.52, AAA said.\u00a0\u00a0\n<\/p>\n Pump prices are 39 cents more than a month ago and $1.39 higher than they were a year ago. Prices have not been this high since summer of 2022.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n AAA said that while crude oil<\/a> prices dipped below $100 per barrel amid ongoing negotiations to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, gasoline prices continue to face pressure from global supply concerns.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n \u00a0According to\u00a0new data from the Energy Information Administration<\/a>\u00a0(EIA<\/a>), gasoline\u00a0demand\u00a0decreased\u00a0last week\u00a0from\u00a09.10\u00a0million\u00a0barrels per day\u00a0to\u00a08.81\u00a0million.\u00a0\u00a0\n<\/p>\n
