READING, Pa. – A Reading man is under arrest, charged in a May shooting that left the victim shot in the leg.<\/p>\n
25-year-old Isaiah Smalls is charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, reckless endangerment and related offenses.<\/p>\n
On the evening of May 3, police say Smalls got into an altercation with the victim in the 1100 block of Green Street.<\/p>\n
A witness said the argument started after the victim questioned Smalls about leaving empty beer cans on his porch.<\/p>\n
Court documents state Smalls responded defensively and aggressively and then spit in the victim’s face.<\/p>\n
Investigators say a physical fight ensued. The witness then heard five to six shots before pushing a bystander into the residence and away from the shooting.<\/p>\n
The victim ran west down Green Street, police say, calling a friend to say he’d been shot in the leg.<\/p>\n
The friend then drove the victim to Reading Hospital to receive treatment for his injuries.<\/p>\n
Smalls is in Berks County Jail on $10,000 bail.<\/p>\n
