Lackawanna County road earlier this year, the Roaring Brook Twp. Police Department charged Tuesday.

Hunt suffered a broken collar bone, injuries to her legs and hips and needed two staples in her head, according to court paperwork filed Tuesday in Central County. She was hospitalized at Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton.

The crash happened shortly after 4 p.m. March 1 on Griffin Road in Roaring Brook Twp., near Scranton. Once he hit her, Stranko got out of the car to check on Hunt but forgot to put the vehicle, a Subaru Impreza, into park, the police said. It rolled down an embankment and hit a house.

Stranko said the sun was in his eyes and he could not see Hunt as she walked. The police thought he was acting like he was under the influence of some kind of drug and he had a hard time keeping his balance during a field sobriety test. They found some drug paraphernalia and a small amount of marijuana in the car.

The results of a drug test revealed he had methamphetamine, cocaine and THC in his blood at the time of the crash. THC is the psychoactive compound found in marijuana.

He was charged Tuesday with aggravated assault by vehicle while driving under the influence, DUI, recklessly endangering another person, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Magisterial District Judge Alyce Hailstone Farrell was going to let him on unsecured bail — meaning he would not have to pay any money up front to be released from jail while his case is pending — but then discovered he lied about getting treatment, according to a court filing.

The judge instead set bail at $50,000 straight and Stranko went to the Lackawanna County Prison to await a preliminary hearing, which is tentatively set for May 21.

Edward Stranko faces charges, including aggravated assault by vehicle while under the influence SCRANTON, Pa. — Edward Stranko…

[15
178,180,179
post-190385","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-scranton","tag-scranton","tag-scranton-headlines","tag-scranton-news
["GET
