For emergency preparedness, Scranton will test its Lackawanna River flood protection systems of levee wall closures and warning sirens Friday between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.<\/p>\n
Levee wall closures<\/p>\n
According to a city announcement, emergency levee walls will get tested first and cause minor traffic disruptions at the following locations:<\/p>\n
\u2022 Parker Street bridge between Amelia and Carter avenues.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Sanderson Avenue bridge between Race and Detty streets.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Albright Avenue bridge between Court Street and Meylert Avenue.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Poplar Street bridge between Sanderson and 7th avenues.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Olive Street bridge between Gordon Avenue and Love Road.<\/p>\n
Sirens<\/p>\n
Testing of flood warning sirens will follow early Friday afternoon at these two locations:<\/p>\n
\u2022 The Shawnee Avenue flood siren at the Shawnee Avenue Pumping Station in the Plot neighborhood, near the intersection of Dean Street. The large siren sits atop an approximately 40-foot-tall pole at the foot of a levee of the Lackawanna River.<\/p>\n
