The SEIU PA state council recently endorsed Scranton mayor Paige Cognetti\u2019s campaign for Congress in Pennsylvania\u2019s 8th District against Republican Congressman Rob Bresnahan.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cAt a time when billionaires, major corporations, and self-serving politicians are running the show in Washington, we need leaders who aren\u2019t afraid to stand up and fight for workers and the labor movement,\u201d said SEIU PA State Council President Matt Yarnell. \u201cUnion members and our families need a person who has a proven track record of taking on corruption and fighting for a government that works for the people, not just itself. We trust that Paige Cognetti will bring that fight for working Pennsylvanians to Congress and continue to hold those in power responsible in D.C. just as she has done in NEPA.\u201d<\/p>\n

The SEIU State Council is composed of SEIU Local 32BJ, SEIU Healthcare Pennsylvania, SEIU Local 668, Committee of Interns and Residents (CIR) and the Pennsylvania Joint Board of Workers United, representing 80,000 essential workers in health care, public service and property services.<\/p>\n
This endorsement follows those of Ironworkers Local 404, Local Painters Union IUPDAT DC 21, the Pennsylvania State Education Association (PSEA), the Pennsylvanian Association of Staff Nurses and Associated Professionals (PASNAP), and Gov. Josh Shapiro in support of Paige\u2019s campaign.<\/p>\n
