SPRING TOWNSHIP, Pa. \u2014 This is the moment Beloved Lenora Pair was recognized Wednesday morning at the YMCA\u2019s Breakfast of Champions, alongside several honorees making a difference in the community.<\/p>\n
The Wilson High School student works with groups like The Real Deal 610, supporting teens through mental health challenges.<\/p>\n
Later that day, we visited Beloved at her home in Spring Township, where she said this work started right there.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe don\u2019t give advice for it, but we\u2019re just there for a helping hand\u2026 being in it myself, I understand certain mental health issues I go through,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
The program was created by her mother and started inside their home before growing into something bigger.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy mom started creating The Real Deal 610\u2026 just in our house for talking and making videos,\u201d Beloved said. \u201cAs it started to grow, she wanted to do something with youth because she realized you can\u2019t always relate to what they\u2019re going through.\u201d<\/p>\n
Beloved says too many young people struggle in silence.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s really as simple as that because mental health is so important. It\u2019s impacted me all my life\u2026 everyone goes through it,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
For her, the recognition meant more than she expected.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt felt nice to be honored\u2026 people seeing exactly what I was doing because in my head it wasn\u2019t nothing,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Now, she\u2019s looking ahead, planning to attend Morgan State University with a goal of becoming a postpartum nurse.<\/p>\n
