One of the “Quakertown 5” students who was arrested during an anti-ICE protest back in February will be going to trial, according to the teen’s attorney.<\/p>\n
The attorney confirmed to NBC10 that their motion to dismiss the charges against the female teen were denied on Tuesday, May 12. <\/p>\n
The teen is facing two misdemeanors of resisting arrest and disorderly conduct and her attorney said that she turned down an agreement with the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office. <\/p>\n
This comes just days after Quakertown borough released a four page statement<\/a> about the Feb. 20 incident along with several images that they said supported their decision to not discipline any of the officers involved. <\/p>\n The Bucks County District Attorney’s Office is still investigating the Quakertown Police Department’s role in the incident.<\/p>\n What happened during the Quakertown ICE protest clash<\/p>\n At least five teenagers were arrested after students and police clashed during an anti-ICE protest<\/a> in Quakertown, Pennsylvania, on Feb. 20, 2026, investigators said.<\/p>\n Officials with the Quakertown Community School District said they canceled a planned student walkout after receiving a report about potential safety concerns. <\/p>\n Despite this, around 35 Quakertown Community High School students still participated in the protest and walked out of class, according to officials.<\/p>\n Quakertown police responded to 5th and Broad streets in Quakertown around 11:35 a.m. as the students marched in the area. <\/p>\n Police said they warned the students to stay out of traffic. <\/p>\n As the protest reached East Broad Street, some of the students began throwing snowballs at vehicles, kicking cars and damaging property, according to police. <\/p>\n Police said they warned the protesters to remain civil at that point.<\/p>\n The protest then continued to Front and Juniper streets where the students blocked traffic and jumped in front of vehicles, police said. More officers were called to the scene and the students clashed with police, according to investigators.<\/p>\n Videos circulating on social media showed confrontations between the students and police officers.\u00a0Another video showed a student being led away in handcuffs<\/a>.<\/p>\n Another cellphone video shared with NBC10 shows a man in a brown shirt \u2013 identified as Quakertown\u2019s police chief \u2013 in a fight while being surrounded by students. The video also shows a second officer bringing someone to the ground.<\/p>\n Police said five teenagers and one adult were taken into custody.\u00a0<\/p>\n Fallout after Quakertown ICE protest clash<\/p>\n The incident gained widespread attention after a viral video showed what appeared to be Quakertown Police Chief Scott McElree getting into an altercation with demonstrators while he was wearing in plain clothes.<\/p>\n Since the protest, McElree faced calls from the community to resign and was placed on workers\u2019 compensation leave but has since returned to work. <\/p>\n
