A Scranton man who pleaded guilty to three counts of rape of a child and other charges will serve 43\u00bd to 97 years in a state correctional institution, the Lackawanna County district attorney\u2019s office announced Monday.<\/p>\n
Police arrested Tara Glan, 23, formerly of 844 Madison Ave., in April 2025 after a report by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that suspected child sexual abuse material was being uploaded at his address, the DA\u2019s office said in a news release. Following the execution of a search warrant, detectives identified multiple child victims who had been sexually assaulted by Glan, per the release.<\/p>\n
Judge Michael J. Barrasse, who handed down the sentence, also found Glan to be a sexually violent predator based partially on his using his position within the Ray of Hope Church to prey on the victims, according to the news release.<\/p>\n
Glan \u2014 who also pleaded guilty to one count of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child and one count of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a person who suffers from a mental disability \u2014 must register as a sex offender for the rest of his life with the Pennsylvania State Police.<\/p>\n
District Attorney Brian Gallagher described Glan\u2019s conduct as \u201cnothing short of monstrous.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThis defendant repeatedly preyed upon vulnerable children and a mentally disabled victim, causing unimaginable trauma and lifelong harm,\u201d he said. \u201c(This) sentence ensures the predator will spend the rest of his life behind bars and never again exploit positions to victimize the innocent.\u201d<\/p>\n
